Three day advanced workshop of wet plate collodion negative process and a workshop on salt and albumen print process.

Na žago 4, Straža pri Novem mestu, Slovenia (45°47’07.1″N 15°04’35.4″E – Google maps)

20th, 21st and 22nd of March 2019. We start the day at 9:33 and end the day at about 19:03

This is an advanced course, but we will go from the beginning so if you have no experience, you will still be fine. It is possible to make also an ambrotype (wet plate collodion positive) during the workshop, to get whole spectrum of collodion process.

Three day workshop costs 550 EUR and that includes all material cost and detailed hand out notes with all the steps and receipts. It does not include food and accommodation.

I recommend RaMar accommodation (LINK)

The workshop is limited for four participants and you get your place by paying the reservation of 100 EUR. The reservation fee is 90% refundable three weeks before the workshop. The rest you pay at the start of the workshop.

After this wet plate collodion workshop, I’m having immediately a workshop on carbon printing (LINK), so if you would want to stay for two more days and take the workshop on carbon printing, you get a discount of 150 EUR on the price for two workshops. So the price for collodion negative, salt printing, albumen printing and carbon printing workshop in the period of five days, between 20nd and 24th of March 2019 is 700 EUR.

Woodland beyond Photography is three day event in deep forest of Kočevski rog in Slovenia. The main theme is photography and environmentalism, so you can expect photography expeditions, talks, projections, exhibitions, challenges and even performances. And of course bonfire with acoustic music.
It is happening every year on the last weekend of July. It is open and free event. It is not a workshop, but it is not a leisure time either. We are a group of artists that are planning to create certain projects together. We invite people who want to come in this environment to either create their projects or helping others in creating them.

This year’s theme is Artists in Resistance. As a protest against cultural policy of Slovenian government we consciously decided not to ask for any governmental funding, but we will rely on our own survival capabilities and continue to create art.

We will provide camping ground, water, toilets and improvised shower. We will provide organised lunches and dinners, but not breakfasts.

We do not provide comfort, because comfort is overrated! We do not provide entertainment, but we expect you to join the group dynamic and be the part of entertaining event. We do not provide camping equipment. There are few beds available, but we expect about 100 people, so convince us that you need a bed and you will get it for free. That said we are humble artists with latent wish to be grand dictators, so I am afraid that this deep seeded complex might erupt in a form of hidden pleasure to negate your wish. As ancient Greeks were saying: “Comfort is the opium of the people!“. A room with king size bed is the prize for an art concept that will win a competition.

We ask only three things.
Respect for the nature and its laws.
That you are coming as a participant of the event and are willing to contribute to it.
To pay 60 EUR for six meals, provided by professional chef.

More information will follow soon.

Video from Photo Safari

This is video from our five day workshop on wet plate collodium negative with salt and albumen printing. It happened in August 2015 in Slovenia. The first day was introduction with first wet plate collodion negatives. Second day was raining, so we went to Studio Pelikan, one of the best preserved skylight studios in Europe, where we were making collodion negative portraits. Third day we were making salt prints, fourth day we went to shoot outdoor and had some rafting. On the last day we learned albumen printing and collodion chloride printing processes.
